Angela came to visit me and my daughter for 1 hour each week. We had just arrived in Scotland and didn’t know any English. Angela taught us together at home. She helped my daughter with her school work and she recorded my daughter’s reading book on my mobile phone so we could practise. She also let me borrow some special ESOL reading books with Cds. We also learned some Scottish traditions like Halloween games and party games. After some lessons I had the confidence to find a job.

We decided to pay for some of our care assistants to improve their English so they could follow instructions from other staff and improve their social conversation with our elderly residents. I was surprised at how much their English improved after only a 20 hour course delivered over 10 weeks.

I thought they would be boring but Angela made them interesting and fun. We even got to cook and eat some haggis!

When I came to Scotland I wasn’t feeling comfortable with using English and made lots of stupid mistakes. After a few months I heard from my friends about english4moray classes and decided to get lessons with Angela and that was a brilliant idea! When I first came to Scotland I could talk a little English. I tried to enrol at English classes locally but was told they couldn’t take me. I started to take English lessons with Angela 2 hours a week. She has helped me to pass the required UK Border Agency speaking and listening test for my visa. I’m also very grateful for the help Angela gave me to get an appointment for the test at Banff & Buchan College. I would recommend Angela to everyone who wants to take lessons. She makes the lessons fun and interesting.
